Exploring the Enchanting Central Highlands: A Journey through Nature's Majesty
A trip to Scotland's Central Highlands
Welcome, my dear reader to another adventure. Today I will take you to the land of natural wonders, rugged landscapes, and rich cultural heritage - Scotland’s Central Highlands.
Our group of wanderers started the journey at Pitlochry where we saw the majestic Dam and Salmon Ladders.
Below the Dam, are two rows of trees sitting along the small stream of water that sparkles below the ray of sunlight giving the authentic experience of being one with nature.
An escape from city life and being surrounded by wilderness—what could be better? We took a walk around the small, peaceful village, which was full of local shops and cafes that we all really enjoyed.
The wanderlusters then headed to Queen’s View - a place said to have been named after Queen Victoria when she visited in 1866. As in the name of the place, the view is breath taking. The place looks out to the beautiful scenery of Loch Tummel. In the distance, a vast mat of green hills stretches out.
Kenmore was the next stop on the adventure. This is where the famous River Tay, which flows to Dundee, begins. We were able to immerse ourselves in the cool water in the summer, which was 20 degrees Celsius.
Some people had a little picnic on the grass, while others headed to the nearby shop to buy gifts and a big scoop of ice cream to cool off the heat. This has to be one of the best summer experiences ever.
Getting wrecked after the whole day of exciting destinations and activities, we travelled to the Falls of Dochart to relax and enjoy each other company. Some sat on the bridge facing the river to get a whole view of the scenery, while others settled in a cafe shop right next to the bridge to enjoy a beverage at the end of the day. I decided to stay on one of the big rocks in the river to completely get lost in the sound of water hitting the stones and the gentle flow of the water through the cracks in the rocks. Every small movement and sound calmed my mind and healed my soul.
And my dear readers, that’s how we ended our day here. The School of Business' eye-opening yet relaxing trip this month has been so much fun. Thank you, Elaine Leong, for organizing the trip. If you'd like to join one of these trips one day, be sure to keep an eye on your email inbox, as these amazing invitations will be sent through there. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it and hopefully one day, we can escape reality and uncover secrets and natural wonders upon lands together.
And until then, my dear readers, goodbye and farewell.
